Viña Ciudad de Palacios / Vina City of Palaces.

El Palacio La Rioja, es uno de los cuantos edificios que se encuentran en el antiguo parcelamiento, llamado "Población Vergara", esta casona / Palacio se encuentra entre las calles Quillota y 3 Norte.
Es parte de esa realidad que hace a Viña, un lugar lleno de elementos arquitectónicos que rememorar  lugares lejanos como Francia, Alemania o Gran Bretaña.

 Este palacio como otros, es parte de esa arquitectura pastiche con elementos franceses e ingleses. Este de la familia Rioja, junto al castillo Wulff.
La familia Rioja, que hizo su fortuna en la industria tabacalera, habitó la mansión hasta 1956, año quefue adquirida por la Municipalidad. Ésta también compró otros inmuebles de importancia arquitectónica y/o histórica como el Palacio Vergara, el Castillo Wulff y el Palacio Carrasco. Luego del Terremoto, el edificio ha sido cerrado para reparaciones. Aun cuando el edificio se muestra como de materialidad solida tanto como albañilerias y/o hormigones; es de tabiquería de madera y adobillo.

Quillota and 3 Norte Intersection . Palacio La Rioja . Julio Ramirez Bruna 2012

The Palacio La Rioja, is one of the numerous buildings located in the old parceling of Vina del Mar, called "Población Vergara", this mansion/ Palace is located in the intersection of Quillota and  3Norte streets.
This relates that old reality of Viña, a place full with architectonic elements that are memories of far places like France, Great Britain or Germany.
This palace, like others, is part of this pastiche architecture with french and english elements. This building was property of  the Rioja Family as well the Wulff Castle.
The Rioja's family made his fortune in the tobacco industry, lived in the mansion until 1956, was once so acquired by the Municipality. It also bought other properties of architectural significance and / or historic as the Palace Vergara, Wulff Castle and the Palace Carrasco.(http://www.patrimoniovina.cl/pdf/desc_guia_metodologica.pdf)
After the 2010 earthquake the building has been closed for reparations. The building shows itself as a solid or brick masonry builded mansion, however its materialy is timber and adobe bricks masonry.
